TIMEKEEPER COURSE
AWARD
The training programme for Timekeeper/
Scorers is focused on understanding the basics
of a judo contest and the role the timekeeper
and scorer plays during competition judo.
On successful completion of the training
programme candidates will be able to act as
timekeepers and scorers at British Judo events
and competitions.
On the job training at three competitions.

AGES 13+
CONTEST RECORDER
AWARD
It builds on the elements learnt as a
Timekeeper/Scorer and focuses on how to
run an officiating table at a competition.
On successful completion of the training
programme candidates will be able to
run pools and knockout sections of a
competition and run an officiating table.
On the job training at three events.
One day course with examination paper.

AGES 12+
CLUB REFEREE AWARD
This course focuses on all of the basic
needs of a judo referee. The examination is
a separate day where the new referee will
be refereeing at an event after having had
some practice events as a trainee.
On successful completion of the training
module, theory examination and practical
assessment, candidates will receive a
British Judo Association Club Referee
award and will be able to referee in
appropriate events.
One day training course.
One day practical refereeing exam.

AGES 15+
AREA REFEREE
AWARD
This course focuses on all of the basic
needs of a judo referee including shimewaza
and kansetsu-waza. The examination
is a separate day where the referee will be
refereeing at an event after having had some
practice events as a trainee/club referee.
On successful completion of the training
module, theory examination and practical
assessment, candidates will receive a British
Judo Association Area Referee award and
will be able to referee in appropriate events.
This will include Dan gradings at over 16
years old.
One day training course.
One day practical refereeing exam.
