TIMEKEEPER COURSE<br />

AWARD<br />

The training programme for Timekeeper/<br />

Scorers is focused on understanding the basics<br />

of a judo contest and the role the timekeeper<br />

and scorer plays during competition judo.<br />

On successful completion of the training<br />

programme candidates will be able to act as<br />

timekeepers and scorers at British Judo events<br />

and competitions.<br />

On the job training at three competitions.<br />

AGES 13+<br />

CONTEST RECORDER<br />

AWARD<br />

It builds on the elements learnt as a<br />

Timekeeper/Scorer and focuses on how to<br />

run an officiating table at a competition.<br />

On successful completion of the training<br />

programme candidates will be able to<br />

run pools and knockout sections of a<br />

competition and run an officiating table.<br />

On the job training at three events.<br />

One day course with examination paper.<br />

AGES 12+<br />

CLUB REFEREE AWARD<br />

This course focuses on all of the basic<br />

needs of a judo referee. The examination is<br />

a separate day where the new referee will<br />

be refereeing at an event after having had<br />

some practice events as a trainee.<br />

On successful completion of the training<br />

module, theory examination and practical<br />

assessment, candidates will receive a<br />

British Judo Association Club Referee<br />

award and will be able to referee in<br />

appropriate events.<br />

One day training course.<br />

One day practical refereeing exam.<br />

AGES 15+<br />

AREA REFEREE<br />

AWARD<br />

This course focuses on all of the basic<br />

needs of a judo referee including shimewaza<br />

and kansetsu-waza. The examination<br />

is a separate day where the referee will be<br />

refereeing at an event after having had some<br />

practice events as a trainee/club referee.<br />

On successful completion of the training<br />

module, theory examination and practical<br />

assessment, candidates will receive a British<br />

Judo Association Area Referee award and<br />

will be able to referee in appropriate events.<br />

This will include Dan gradings at over 16<br />

years old.<br />

One day training course.<br />

One day practical refereeing exam.<br />
