AGES 16+<br />

GRADE 1 COACHING ASSISTANT<br />

This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to assist in<br />

the coaching and introduction of basic skills and the game<br />

play of wheelchair basketball to beginners and junior<br />

players. This award enables the Grade 1 Assistant Coach<br />

to assist a fully qualified Coach and deliver aspects of safe<br />

and fun coaching sessions under direct supervision.<br />

At the conclusion of the course the Coaching Assistant will:<br />

• Have knowledge and understanding of the core generic<br />

coaching skills;<br />

• Have an awareness of conducting a safe session;<br />

• Be able to plan a session introducing the FUNdamental<br />

skills of wheelchair basketball;<br />

• Be able to deliver a session introducing the FUNdamental<br />

skills of wheelchair basketball;<br />

• Progress FUNdamental skills of wheelchair basketball into<br />

small sided game situations;<br />

• Contribute to the evaluation of an activity session.<br />

2 DAYS, 8 HOURS PER DAY<br />

• Three hours in a classroom/meeting room and rest on court.<br />
