Dié Vermentino is a white wine like no other we ordinarily see in the UK, such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. This dry, crisp wine is delicately layered with grapefruit and green apple, with a hint of peach, enjoyable alone, with fish and lighter meats such as chicken. Vermentino is such a refreshing change, fun and for those who like a good white wine… in fact, a wine to ‘Dié’ for! Ego One of the most famous red grapes of Sardinia is Cannonau; this single variety red wine encompasses the true essence of Sardinia. Sardinia is one of the five ‘blue zones’ in the world identified as having many residents reaching an age of 90 years and older. The people of Sardinia believe this specific wine, drank in moderation, has health benefits which accounts for their well-being into old age. Cannonau is an excitement of red fruits with a touch of spice, fantastic with red meats and mature cheeses the wine can also be appreciated as an enjoyable glass of red wine. Geo Sardinia has long been famous for some excellent red wines, and ItalSardo has sourced a superb mixed grape variety IGT (cannonau, syrah, cabernet sauvignon) This red wine has a warm intensity with an expression of cranberry and red cherry, offering a taste of baked plum and mulled red fruits. It’s excellent with both meat and fish dishes but also delicious as a standalone wine.
