เนื่องหลายชิ้นด้วยกัน โดยเขาวาดภาพตัวเองจาก
ภาพสะท้อนในกระจก โดยแต่ละภาพได้แสดงให้เห็นถึง
พัฒนาการการวาด อารมณ์และสีหน้าของศิลปินใน
ช่วงเวลาและฤดูกาลต่างๆ
The self-portraits were drawn from a
mirror, and together show Van Gogh as
he saw himself. They reveal various
emotional states and the face of the
artist through time and different seasons.

เนเธอร์แลนด์เมื่อไม่กี่ปีก่อนยังคงติดอยู่ในความทรงจำ า ผลงานภาพ-
เขียน ภาพวาด จดหมายส่วนตัวกว่าพันชิ ้น และข้อมูลต่างๆของ
วินเซนต์ วิลเลียม แวน โก๊ะ (Vincent Willem Van Gogh) จิตรกรแนวอิมเพรส-
ชั่นนิสต์ชาวดัตช์ผู้โด่งดังจัดแสดงเต็มพื้นที่ นอกจากนี้ยังมีโครงการที่เกี่ยวข้อง
กับผลงานและประวัติส่วนตัวของศิลปินผู้นี้ถูกรวบรวมไว้อย่างพิถีพิถัน
จริงๆ แล้ว ความสำาคัญของจิตรกรเอกผู้นี้ คงไม่ได้อยู่
ที่ผลงานต่างๆ ของเขาแค่เพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ประวัติชีวิต
ส่วนตัวของเขาเอง ก็น่าสนใจและมีความสำ าคัญไม่แพ้กัน
สิ ่งเหล่านี ้นำาไปสู ่การศึกษาและไขปริศนาเรื ่องราวการ
สร้างผลงานแต่ละชิ้น ผ่านช่วงเวลาต่างๆในชีวิตของเขา
และเรามักจะเห็นภาพผลงานปรากฏอยู ่ตามที ่ต่างๆ
ภาพผลงานที่ถูกพิมพ์บนโปสการ์ด โปสเตอร์ถูกทำาซ้ำา
แล้วซ้ำาอีก ส่วนผลงานของแท้ก็ได้รับความสนใจของนัก
สะสมงานศิลปะ ในการประมูลผลงานภาพเขียนเก่าเก็บ
อันมีมูลค่าสูงเหลือเกิน
แวน โก๊ะ เกิดเมื ่อปี 1853 ที ่เนเธอร์เแลนด์ ใน
ครอบครัวที่เคร่งครัดศาสนาและสนใจในศิลปะ ก่อนจะ
มาเป็นจิตรกรนั ้น เขาไม่ค่อยจะประสบความสำาเร็จใน
ชีวิตการงานและชีวิตส่วนตัวสักเท่าไหร่ ช่วงที ่เขาเป็นตัวแทนขายงานศิลปะ
ในลอนดอน เขารู้สึกไม่ชอบผลงานที่เขาขาย ทำ าให้เขาไม่มีแรงบันดาลใจในการ
ทำางานในแต่ละวันเอาซะเลย แถมช่วงเดียวกันนั้นยังถูกตัดสัมพันธ์จากหญิง
อันเป็นที่รัก หลังจากนั้นไม่นาน เขาตัดสินใจลาออกมาทำ างานในร้านหนังสือ
ต่อด้วยนักเทศน์ ในเมืองเล็กๆ ของประเทศเบลเยียม
ด้วยบุคลิกที่อ่อนไหวมาก บวกกับความไม่มั่นใจในตัวเองแม้แต่น้อย
ทำาให้ต้องอยู่ในสภาพของคนที่มีจิตใจหดหู่และห่อเหี่ยวจากสถานการณ์
รอบตัวตลอดเวลา เขาจึงหาหนทางเยียวยาด้วยการวาดรูป และตัดสินใจ
My trip to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands
several years ago is still a clear memory. The paintings, drawings,
personal letters-over a thousand pieces in all-from Vincent Willem
Van Gogh and other famous Dutch impressionists filled the entire
space. The importance of Van Gogh not only lies in his paintings, but
also in his life story. His personal experiences impart a facet of themselves
into his artwork, and this changes through
various periods of his life. Today we cherish his
work by printing them on postcards and posters.
We also love the original old paintings that fetch
high bids from serious art collectors.
Van Gogh came from a religious family,
and he always had an interest in art. Prior to
becoming a painter, he did not have much
success in business or in his personal life.
He was unhappy working as an art dealer in
London, finding it hard to connect with the
work he sold. At this time he was also spurned
constantly by the woman he loved. Shortly
afterwards, he left his job to work at a small bookstore, and also
spent time as a preacher in a small Belgium town.
Having a sensitive personality combined with lack of self-confidence,
Van Gogh was often depressed and could not integrate
into society. He found solace in his art, and sought higher artistic
education in Antwerp, Belgium before moving to Paris with his
beloved brother Theo Van Gogh of whom he had written letters to
since his departure from the Netherlands until the end of his life.
