One person who is living
proof of this assertion is
Sophie Paveling who is an
electrical and mechanical
engineering apprentice at
Coca-Cola European Partners
(CCEP). After four years
at the company’s Milton
Keynes factory, she definitely
sees herself staying in
manufacturing.
“The manufacturing
industry has so much to offer,
and I’m excited to continue
working and progressing
within it,” she tells Machinery
Update.

and I find that the work

need to be solved,” she says.
“My apprenticeship has
given me the perfect balance

opportunity to constantly
learn and develop.
“What I love most is that
every day is different and I am
constantly faced with a variety
of challenges to overcome,”
she says. ■

BREAKDOWN ENGINEER
She is currently working as
a breakdown shift engineer
(4 days on, 4 days off),
where she helps to resolve
machinery breakdowns
and perform preventative
maintenance across the site.
“I am responsible for my own
allocated set of production
lines on site and ensure that
they are always working to the
correct speed and producing
top quality products,” she
says. And as one filling
machine fills and seals 2,000
cans per minute, every minute
that the machine is down
