Schubert is giving
customers better
ways of working
By digitally networking
production systems,
manufacturers can
significantly increase
their efficiency
and availability and this is
what packaging machinery
manufacturer Schubert is
now offering to its customers.
With GRIPS.world, Schubert
is providing its customers with
a new digital platform that it says,
will significantly improve service
and system availability. With the
GRIPS.world customer portal, all
TLM machines from Schubert are
now ready to connect to this digital
platform upon customer request.
In the mid-term, it will open up
new opportunities for preventive
maintenance as well as with
customer communication.
The GRIPS.world customer portal
is the platform for operators of
Schubert packaging machines to
gather together all the important
functions for monitoring and
documenting machine data.
It utilises a single user interface
and also structures collaboration
with Schubert in a simpler way.
MAXIMISING PRODUCTIVITY
As of May this year, all TLM
machines are able to connect
to the platform via the Internet
to help ensure that customer
productivity or overall equipment
effectiveness (OEE) is maximised.
OEE for individual machines and
entire packaging lines is therefore
monitored for each location on
an ongoing basis, to provide

an excellent overview of the
production status of the systems.
This customer portal is also
used to analyse and display all
the relevant process data of a TLM
machine. With Schubert TLM
monitoring, the Schubert Expert
Center monitors the TLM machine
on an ongoing basis, providing the
user with additional production
security. If contact with a service
expert in the Schubert Expert
Center is necessary, establishing
contact is simplified and all
information regarding the affected
machine, program and architecture
version etc is directly accessible
by both the customer and the
Schubert expert.
3D IMAGES OF MACHINERY
Every Schubert machine built
since 2004 has included an
electronic service module, or ESM,
which gives machine users
a three-dimensional image of their
specific machine, taken directly
from the CAD data. The ESM can
disassemble a packaging machine
on screen into all its individual
parts, thereby accurately
identifying each of its assemblies
and components. This allows any
spare parts that are needed to be
easily identified and placed directly
into a digital shopping basket.
If maintenance or repairs are
required, the ESM can be called up,
for example, on the programming
device or another PC directly at the
affected system. The areas included
in the module, such as spare
parts catalogue, wiring diagrams,
operating instructions, as well as
an optional repair manual and
detailed assembly descriptions,
contain all the information
required for machine maintenance.
Another important element of
GRIPS.world will be the machine’s
digital twin. This is a threedimensional
image of the TLM
machine that can be moved with
the help of the original code of the
VMS packaging machine control
system. Customers can carry out
simulations themselves using the
digital twin, to show functionality
and performance with new product
shapes, for example.
