among prime markets for a new
high speed bagging machine
from Italian manufacturer
PFM, able to provide fast
changeover between up to
seven bag styles.
The new Solaris Evo brings
continuous motion operation
into a field dominated up to
now by slower intermittent
machinery, allowing stand-up
pouches with a zipper
reclosure to be produced at
speeds up to 100 a minute.
FILM TRANSPORT PATHS
In addition, the machine
incorporates two alternative
film transport paths, allowing
standard pillow packs,
four-side seal PFM Steelo
bags and Doy style bags to be
produced without the usual
downtime required to rotate
the sealing unit between
different styles.

In particular, Bolton
expects the new machine to
boost interest in PFM Steelo
bags, on which the four
corners are heat-sealed to
improve both rigidity and
appearance to the point where
powdered products such
as desserts can be packed
without a carton.
“Volume for volume, the
Steelo bags can occupy
some 10-14% less space than
standard pillow packs, saving
both transit packaging cost
and supermarket shelf space,”
