Investment is set to
drive thermoformer
sales and turnover
Riverside Medical division Shawpak
is targeting £3 million sales as
interest in its thermoforming
machinery gathers pace.
Currently, £1 million is being
invested in creating a production
and showroom facility in
Newmarket Drive, Derby while
25 engineering and design
professionals have been recruited
to cope with increases in volume
and the aim to sell 100 machines
every year by 2020.
“We have been developing
the Shawpak range for three
years and the market has now
started to understand and take
advantage of the benefits our
technology provides,” says Tony
Crofts, sales and marketing
director at the company.

HepcoMotion engineering apprentice Toby Cowan and his girlfriend
Izzy were lucky enough to attend the wedding of his Royal Highness
Prince Harry with Meghan Markle. He was nominated for this
prestigious invite because of his extensive work within the community
promoting apprenticeships and was put forward by Exeter College.
PPMA Show 2018 will
be 30th anniversary of
production line event
The PPMA Show will
return to the NEC,
Birmingham in
September (25-27) to showcase
the latest innovations in smart
manufacturing, processing
technology and packaging
machinery. Presenting
production technologies and
solutions for the food and
beverage, pharmaceutical,
toiletries and fmcg sectors,
visitors to the show will find
350 exhibitors representing
1,500 equipment brands,
all under one roof.
“Our 30th anniversary show
comes at a time when UK
manufacturing is enjoying its
longest period of expansion
since 1968 and these positive
signs will undoubtedly boost
confidence throughout the
sector,” says Andrew Mint,
ceo of the PPMA Group of
Associations. “Against this
backdrop, the event looks set
to be one of the best to date.”
New to the show this year
Mark Price is the keynote speaker
will be the Enterprise Zone
which will offer visitors a focal
point for learning, networking
and live debate. The keynote
address will be delivered by
Lord Mark Price, Minister of
State for Trade and Investment
who will bring his years of
experience as md of Waitrose
and deputy chairman of
The John Lewis Partnership
to the stage on the first day.

Royal recognition
for pallet wrapping
solution company
Samuel Grant Packaging
received the Queen’s Award
for Enterprise for its pallet
wrapping solution called
the Samson Nano.
To qualify for the award,
the company had to prove how
the packaging industry had
been impacted by the solution
that includes inbuilt reporting
software and a special ‘price
per pallet’ costing system.
“We are hugely excited by
this accolade and are grateful
to our dedicated staff and loyal
customers who have made
this award possible,” says
Andrew Grant, managing
director and great grandson
of the founder of the company.

A brand new processing and
packaging machinery finder app
is being developed by the
PPMA as a complementary
option to the printed version of
its Machinery Directory and
the Group website.
It means that from August,
users will be able to search over
500 processing, packaging,
robotics and vision systems
suppliers to answer their supplier
needs more easily. Available free
of charge through Google Play
or on the Apple App store, this
unique product will make finding
the required manufacturing
technology a simple task.
The App will allow the user to
access very detailed information
on a huge range of products from
each and every PPMA member
company and also provide direct
email and web links to the chosen
supplier. “This makes the whole
process of finding and speaking to
the company of choice, a very quick
and simple process,” says David
Chadd, head of publishing at the
PPMA Group of Associations.
