Amparaky se situe dans le
district de Soavinandriana,
dans la région Itasy, à
l’ouest d’Antananarivo.
En langue islandaise, le
verbe « gjosa » signifie « jaillir », le
mot geyser tire ainsi son origine du
mot « geysir », un geyser islandais
déjà éteint. Un geyser est une source
d’eau qui jaillit d’une façon régulière
Amparaky is located
in the district of
Soavinandriana, in the
Itasy region, west of
Antananarivo. In the
Icelandic language, the verb "gjosa"
means "to gush", from which the
English word “geyser” originates. A
geyser in general is a hot spring in
which water intermittently boils,
sending a tall column of water and
steam into the air.
The particularity of the geysers
of Ampefy, lies in the fact that the
gushing water-fountain is not caused
by volcanic heat but as a result of the
natural over-pressure in artesian wells.
Therefore the water that erupts is not
hot but allows you to enjoy a shower
in the countryside at two or three wellknown
locations.
Historically, it was a traditional place
of worship where travellers from far
away came to make offerings in the
hope of obtaining favours. Couples
wanting children, people suffering
and those wanting to change their
destiny, have visited this sacred place.

une douche en pleine nature.

Until today, Amparaky has retained

guides will, also, recommend healthenhancing
clay massages for visitors.

Anciennement, l’endroit était un lieu
de culte traditionnel où des voyageurs
venus de très loin venaient faire des
offrandes dans l’espoir d’obtenir
des faveurs. Couples espérant des
enfants, personnes souffrantes ou
désireuses de voir leur destin prendre
un autre chemin, rendaient visite
à ce lieu sacré. Les guérisseurs
traditionnels (Mpimasy) habitaient
cet endroit ce qui rendait plus facile la
pratique des rituels.
Aujourd’hui, Amparaky a conservé
son caractère mystérieux. L’eau
jaillissante aux vertus thérapeutiques
est recommandée notamment pour
le traitement de l’hypertension
artérielle. Certains guident proposent
aux touristes des séances de
massages.
