Quand y aller? / When to go?
Les visiteurs de cette partie nord de la capitale
sont plus nombreux le week-end et pendant les
vacances scolaires. La meilleure période pour s’y
rendre est entre mai et novembre. Attention : il
est important de respecter les fady (les interdits)
comme ne pas manger d’escargots, de porc ou
d’oignon, lors des visites.
Visitors to this northern part of the capital are
more numerous at weekends and during school
holidays so avoid these times. The best months to
go are between May and November. Attention: it
is important to respect the fady (the forbidden),
for instance, by not eating snails, pork meat or
onions during visits.

Pour vous rendre à Ambohimanga, empruntez la
RN3 et poursuivez la route à gauche au PK 16.
Comptez 30 minutes depuis le centre-ville.
To get to Ambohimanga, take the RN3 and
continue left at PK16. Allow for around 30
minutes from the city centre.

L’hôtel le plus proche est le « Relais du Rova ».
L’environnement est magnifique et calme avec
un parc apaisant qui donne sur Ambohimanga et
Ambohidrabiby.

soothing park overlooking Ambohimanga and

Le « restaurant d’Ambohimanga », installé à
quelques mètres de l’entrée du palais, propose
des plats malgaches et européens. Le restaurant
« Maharitrafo » du « Relais du Rova » est
également une bonne adresse.

La visite de ce site permet de découvrir l’histoire
de Madagascar et plus précisément celle de
l’Imerina. Vestiges, photos et documents illustrent
bien ce passé. Au-delà de la découverte du Palais
d’Ambohimanga, se trouve le coin d’Andriamisara
(Roi Sakalava, allié d’Andrianampoinimerina), et
enfin au sommet, la source où des pratiquants
d’arts martiaux continuent de puiser des forces.
