There are so many projects
taking off, and I get so excited to
hear about people who are
organizing, creating, reaching
out, participating in, and
contributing their talent and skills
in this region. We hear about
them and bring you their stories.
As we hope you are enjoying
our content, we also want to
encourage you to reach out to
us and let us know about people
and initiatives that deserve our
attention.
A couple of my favorite things happening in September are
the Kenner Baleada Festival and the Excelencia Gala, both
events, scheduled around the National Hispanic Heritage
Month celebration which is observed from September 15th to
October 15th in the United States.
The city of Kenner is celebrating the first Baleada Festival on
September 16th. This event highlights a food staple of
Honduras, and recognizes the heritage of the largest
community by nationality of Latinos in our area.
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honors excellence, and
their annual Excelencia Gala takes place on September 21st.
This year the gala celebrates 300 years of New Orleans
while recognizing individuals and companies chosen for
excelling in their fields and for their contributions to our New
Orleans community.
