Autumn Programme
We are pleased to announce that our programme
of events from October to Christmas is now in place.
The first of these, Daffodil Bulb planting
on the Green opposite Tesco Express,
Norden Road, will take place on Sunday
14th October, from 1.00pm onwards.
In case of wet weather, it will be the first
dry Sunday after this. These new bulbs
will supplement the daffodils already
planted on the Green last year by
community volunteers, everybody is
welcome, so why not come along and
plant a few, either the ones which we
will be supply, or feel free to buy a bag
of bulbs and bring your own, perhaps as
a public but personal reminder of
someone or something, or a way of
getting your children involved in the
growing process. Either way, you will
need to bring your own spade, to lift
and fold back a small section of turf,
pop the bulbs underneath and replace
it. The bulbs will naturalise and
increase over time and provide a
stunning swathe of colour every spring
for us all to enjoy.
This will also be a good opportunity
to view the area where the Bamford
Community Garden and Woodland Walk
is going to be created, at the very back
of the Green. (The daffodils are at the
front) The area at the back, which is
bigger than you think, is currently very
overgrown, and creeping forward every
year but we are delighted that RMBC,
who own it, have agreed to provide the
heavy machinery and manpower to
clear a space for the proposed
woodland walk and garden. We are also
thankful to Paul Ellison, of Evergreen
Landscapes, for his advice and for help,
especially in (hopefully) securing
sponsorship for the landscaping and
paths. Friends of Bamford Volunteers
will be there to answer questions and
explain what we hope to do, but as the
funding for this project is dependant
on Community Involvement and
Volunteers, we need as many people
as possible to come along and at least
give us support and ideas, even if you
don’t plant daffodils. We all live here,
let’s make Bamford Better.
