Rochdale impresses<br />

Britain in Bloom Judges<br />

The judges from the Britain in Bloom, RHS - Royal Horticultural Society visited Rochdale<br />

on the 9th August and toured a host of the town’s horticultural highlights, which<br />

included, <strong>Norden</strong> Jubilee Park, Edenfield Road Alley Gate Scheme, the Green Flag<br />

Award-winning Denehurst Park, Rochdale AFC Wonderwall, Castleton Railway Station<br />

and War Memorial, Springhill Hospice, The Growth Project, Rochdale Memorial Gardens,<br />

The Flying Horse Hotel and the WW1 Pop Up Garden.<br />

Rochdale Township In Bloom is being judged for the finals of the ‘Small city’ category.<br />

The medal each finalist is awarded will be announced at the RHS Britain in Bloom awards<br />

ceremony in Belfast on 19th <strong>October</strong>. The In Bloom team secured a prestigious place in the<br />

Britain in Bloom finals after taking overall gold at the North West in Bloom Awards in 2017.<br />

Starting at Nutters Restaurant Official, where Andrew Nutter is an ambassador for Rochdale<br />

in Bloom and finishing off at Rochdale Town Hall, judges spent the day being shown how<br />

community groups and the council have worked together to create inspiring displays.<br />

This year Rochdale in Bloom has taken inspiration from the First World War, to mark its<br />

centenary and honour the 16 million<br />

people who died in the conflict.<br />
