Richard 在 魁 北 克 長 大 , 父 親 是 木 匠 。 耳 濡 目

取 得 了 建 築 學 位 後 ,Richard 決 定 去 外 面 更 廣 闊 的
天 地 裏 闖 一 闖 , 辦 了 一 個 美 國 工 作 簽 證 就 搬 到 了 洛
杉 磯 。 他 先 在 一 些 建 築 公 司 工 作 , 幾 年 後 便 成 立
了 自 己 的 公 司 , 並 逐 漸 在 業 內 積 累 起 不 錯 的 口 碑 ,
一 步 步 成 就 了 自 己 建 築 事 業 的 輝 煌 。
最 初 ,Chantal 和 她 的 丈 夫 , 企 業 家 Greg
Chamandy 在 一 本 建 築 雜 誌 上 看 到 了 Richard 的 作
品 , 那 是 著 名 薩 克 斯 演 奏 家 Kenny G. 在 西 雅 圖 的 英
式 莊 園 。Chantal 和 她 的 丈 夫 都 非 常 喜 歡 Richard
的 設 計 , 決 定 邀 請 他 來 打 造 自 己 的 家 園 。
來 自 家 鄉 的 電 話 讓 Richard 感 到 很 興 奮 。「 回
到 故 鄉 所 在 的 省 工 作 , 對 我 來 說 是 很 大 的 樂 趣 。」
Richard 說 , 這 個 項 目 讓 他 更 加 熟 悉 了 蒙 特 利 爾 的
莊 園 建 築 , 以 及 魁 北 克 的 鄉 村 建 築 , 這 正 是 他 打

同 時 ,Richard 還 使 用 了 許 多 當 地 天 然 材 料 。
「 這 是 一 座 很 特 別 的 房 子 , 它 是 採 用 多 樣 化 材 料
打 造 的 房 屋 中 的 典 範 之 作 。」 例 如 在 房 子 的 地 基
處 , 工 人 裝 飾 上 了 鵝 卵 石 。 每 個 房 間 的 天 花 板 都 被
打 造 出 不 同 特 點 , 有 些 使 用 再 生 木 材 營 造 出 質 樸

用 再 生 木 材 打 造 的 尖 頂 , 彷 如 一 個 大 穀 倉 , 卻 令
人 真 有 瞬 間 穿 越 至 了 一 座 歐 洲 城 堡 的 感 覺 。
Chantal 對 於 這 處 設 計 尤 為 滿 意 。「 這 都 是 為
了 有 自 然 的 感 覺 , 走 進 來 之 後 , 感 覺 和 外 面 沒 有 什
麼 不 同 。」 廚 房 更 加 傳 統 舒 適 , 天 花 板 上 依 然 是 粗
大 的 再 生 木 材 橫 樑 , 與 巨 大 的 石 頭 砌 成 的 烤 爐 和
磚 紅 色 的 牆 壁 共 同 營 造 出 溫 馨 的 氛 圍 。 酒 窖 裏 那
看 似 像 是 白 色 磚 頭 砌 成 的 拱 形 屋 頂 , 其 實 是 樹 脂
做 的 , 但 讓 酒 窖 有 了 特 別 古 老 的 感 覺 , 正 像 歐 洲 那
些 歷 史 久 遠 的 酒 莊 。
在 業 內 ,Richard 以 多 變 的 設 計 風 格 聞 名 , 可
以 依 據 客 人 的 需 要 打 造 出 截 然 不 同 , 又 頗 具 個 人
風 格 的 房 屋 。 這 也 正 是 Chantal 所 欣 賞 的 。 因 為 她
自 己 也 是 不 拘 於 固 定 風 格 的 人 , 她 在 佛 羅 里 達 的
公 寓 很 現 代 , 紐 約 的 公 寓 就 相 對 更 別 緻 些 , 其 它
地 方 的 房 產 也 各 不 相 同 。 這 幢 位 於 翠 湖 山 莊 的 大
宅 邸 佔 地 近 2 英 畝 , 包 括 一 段 湖 畔 的 湖 灘 區 。 房 屋

When he struck out on his own, he
started with small projects but put his
whole heart into them and quickly
elevated his career through word-ofmouth.

They loved the English manor house
he’d built in Seattle for saxophonist
Kenny G.
“It was fun for me to do work again
in my home province,” Landry says.
It helped that he was familiar with
the local architecture — the manor
houses in Montreal as well as the
rural Québec homes that inspired the
Chamandy home.
“It’s almost like a fairytale house,”
Landry says. “To me, when I look at it,
there’s a playfulness to it.” He says of
what Chamandy calls her “meditation
nook” in the turret, “it almost feels
like a treehouse in there.”
“At the same time, it’s an important
home; it has a sense of being a classic
home with rich material,” he says.
He highlights the use of natural,
local materials. For example, the
bedrock outcroppings the builders
removed to make way for the foundation
were relocated to the sides of the
cobblestone drive.
The ceilings were important, Landry
says, and each room’s ceiling has a
different character. In the two-story
foyer, the ceiling is made of reclaimed
wood from local barns (as are the large
