THE LEAD-UP
“I recall being addicted to The Weather
Channel in the lead-up to the wedding.
The day before we got married, we had
the most torrential thunderstorm. It was
really out of control and I thought it was
a bad sign, but when I woke up the next
day it was beautiful clear skies. I felt so
lucky! I remember feeling so excited.”
THE BIG DAY
“Walking down the aisle was an emotional
experience. The moment I saw my family
and friends, I just burst into tears.
“I loved every minute of the day, but if
I had to pick a favourite moment, it’d be
the speeches – my dad’s and my husband’s
were great. It was probably the first chance
I’d had to sit down, relax and take it all in.
I also really enjoyed our first dance. We
actually had a couple of lessons from
Carmelo Pizzino (from Dancing with the
Stars) where he showed us a couple of
moves. We managed to pull it off, too!”
IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN…
“I’d make sure I ate before the wedding.
I remember feeling light-headed after
dinner because I hadn’t really eaten all
day. I had to pop outside for some fresh
air before our first dance, otherwise I’m
not sure I could’ve done those moves!”
IF I’VE LEARNT ONE THING ABOUT
MARRIAGE, IT’S…
“Marriage is a long-term commitment and
always requires work – it takes effort from
both sides. There’ll be good times and
there’ll be challenging times, and the key
is to keep talking to each other to move
through them. Marriage can be wonderful
– but only if you make it that way!”

THE FESTIVITIES
“We made the most of being with the
people we love most in the world by having
a four-day wedding festival.
The first night was a family dinner and
a walk through the famous Palm Springs
Street Fair, then the next day we held a
Moroccan welcome dinner, complete with
pink, aqua and gold Raj tents, a hookah
lounge and belly dancers.
The wedding itself had a romantic
garden theme, featuring a cascading
canopy of white peonies, hydrangeas and
roses. As is Jewish tradition, both my
mother and father walked me down the
aisle, which was very meaningful to me.
The next day we all recovered with a
brunch and a crystal blessing ceremony.
That night, we threw a wig party, where
guests were given crazy wigs to swap
through the night as they played games
and sipped frozen margaritas.”
SPECIAL MOMENTS
“We took photos before the ceremony, but
I wanted Siimon to have that moment of
seeing me in my dress for the ‘first’ time.
So, after the photos were taken, I snuck off
and slipped out of the mermaid Reem Acra
gown and into a Vera Wang tulle ball
gown to walk down the aisle in. It was so
special seeing Siimon’s surprise and joy.”
IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN…
“I’d relive the entire four days. It felt like a
big, wild family holiday.”
MY WEDDING ADVICE
“Be a guest at your own wedding. Pick an
exact time and from that point on, switch
from being the bride into the guest. You
wouldn’t care that some of the flowers
were wilting if you were a guest, right?”
