Tell us a little about Stuck in Iceland<br />
Stuck in Iceland is an independent travel<br />
magazine which I co-founded back in<br />
2012. It contains hundreds of articles on<br />
destinations in Iceland and interviews<br />
with interesting people detailing their<br />
experience and impressions of visiting<br />
Iceland.<br />
Iceland is be<strong>com</strong>ing an increasingly<br />
popular tourist destination, why do you<br />
think that is?<br />
WIthout a doubt it is the nature of the<br />
country. Wide open spaces, waterfalls,<br />
glaciers, lava fields, black beaches, geysers,<br />
northern lights and so much more.<br />
What would you say is the most <strong>com</strong>mon<br />
misconception about Iceland?<br />
Hard to say actually, but I suppose that at<br />
least people think that Iceland is a covered<br />
in in ice and snow all year.<br />
As a local what is the best off the beaten<br />
path attraction?<br />
This is a tough one. There are so many<br />
places. I want to mention the highland<br />
hiking trails, Kjalvegur and Laugavegur.<br />
Also glaciers like Vatnajokull glacier or<br />
Langjökull glacier. Then there are the ice<br />
caves in Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Let me know<br />
if you want to arrange a tour to any of these<br />
places and I will do my best to help.<br />
How would you re<strong>com</strong>mend getting<br />
around?<br />
Based on the dozens interviews I have<br />
done with travelers I would re<strong>com</strong>mend<br />
renting a car and go on a road trip.<br />
Is there an ideal time of the year to<br />
<strong>com</strong>e?<br />
I would actually re<strong>com</strong>mend mid to<br />
late September. The weather is often<br />
surprisingly good and there is a change to<br />
catch the northern lights.<br />
What is a traditional Icelandic dish<br />
and where would one go to enjoy a<br />
traditional Iceland meal?<br />
I always say that you should try fermented<br />
shark with a shot of ice cold Brennivin<br />
Schnapps. But it is an acquired taste.<br />
That is always a classic! I would also<br />
re<strong>com</strong>mending Messinn restaurant to<br />
get great Icelandic fish for an affordable<br />
price. Also try go the Icelandic lamb. I<br />
re<strong>com</strong>mend Schnaps restaurant. It is great<br />
bistro with pretty affordable prices. If you<br />
want a more excotic take on the lamb try it<br />
at Sumac restaurant.<br />
What does the future hold for Stuck in<br />
Iceland?<br />
I am looking for new ways to create value<br />
for my readers. So I have added a way for<br />
people for look for hotel deals in Iceland,<br />
I have added a massive tour portal with<br />
reviews, people can find rental cars from<br />
reputable car rental <strong>com</strong>panies and so<br />
on. But the thing I most excited about<br />
are the travel deals I have secured for my<br />
readers with independent and highly rated<br />
