Horicon is comprised<br />

The Town of Horicon is<br />
located in <strong>the</strong> nor<strong>the</strong>astern<br />
boundary of Warren County,<br />
settled in early 1800s<br />
and incorporated March<br />
29, 1838 from portions of<br />
Bol<strong>to</strong>n and Hague with <strong>to</strong>tal<br />
of 71.8 square miles. During<br />
<strong>the</strong> Civil War, <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn held<br />
<strong>the</strong> proud distinction of<br />
providing more volunteer<br />
soldiers in proportion <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
population than any o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
<strong>to</strong>wn in NYS with only one<br />
man being drafted. The<br />
Horicon Museum affords<br />
visi<strong>to</strong>rs a look in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> past:<br />
of <strong>the</strong> early settlers, <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
homes, churches, industries,<br />
boarding houses and special<br />
occasions. The displays in<br />
this res<strong>to</strong>red, 19th-century<br />
farmhouse give a glimpse<br />
in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> lives of those who<br />
lived in an earlier time.<br />
There are many items<br />
reflecting <strong>the</strong> local his<strong>to</strong>ry<br />
and <strong>the</strong> Civil War. In <strong>20</strong><strong>20</strong><br />

“Horicon is off <strong>the</strong> beaten<br />
path of his<strong>to</strong>rical events, but<br />
its development through <strong>the</strong><br />
spirit and help of her people<br />
is a fine example of community<br />
life.”<br />
