You could
say hockey is in Jakob
Chychrun’s DNA. There is a lineage
of ice hockey players in his family. His father,
Jeff Chychrun, and uncle, Luke Richardson, were
both defensemen who played on several teams in the NHL.
Chychrun followed suit and played the sport throughout his
childhood with one goal in mind: to go pro. Determination and
hard work got him to the 2016 NHL Draft, where he was the
Arizona Coyotes’ first-round pick.
“It was a special day and one I worked hard for my entire life
to get to. I really wanted to go to a team that wanted me, and the
Coyotes traded up to get me, which was really cool,” Chychrun says.
Since going pro, Chychrun has made a name for himself
in the NHL as the Arizona Coyotes’ rising star. Fans will
get to see more of his innate ability on the ice rink
and impeccable style off it, as the 21-year-old
defenseman recently extended his contract
with the team for another six years.
