We woke to spectacular blue sky the next day as we leisurely drove back up to the Fonna Glacier. There were

young gate-blasting racers working precision, under the watchful eyes of coaches armed with radios and

stopwatches, these mentors aiding their dreams of World Cup glory. I caught sight of a whole family, little

kids to grandpa, downhilling on cross-country skis off the lift. There were snowboarders and free skiers getting

their slopestyle fix, hitting the substantial terrain park heading left off the top. Finally we had us telemark

campers, rockin n’ rolling the glacier. It was a blast. The terrain park was seeing a lot of laps under the rollicking

blue sky. Richard Schürf and Per had demo telemark equipment for folks to try down at Per’s famous

TShark Van, and the boys even got some total newcomers hooked-up to try our wonderful sport. As the day

wound down, Sam hit some roadside runs just for the heck of it, before we settled back down at our awesome

campground. Then, after dinner the crew went back up for their aforementioned sunset skin. Seeing the photos

later, I saw how special it was. The crew had perfect conditions at 10pm overlooking the most spectacular

Norwegian fjord landscape. Truly beautiful. We partied into the night upon their return.
