Dyson machines are sold in more than 75 countries.
It’s a name that evokes awe, esteem,
veneration, admiration, and often
associated with prestige, class, and
distinction. Its mere mention hints
at the very image of modernity,
state-of-the-art technology and
homes of the future. When one hears the
name Dyson, it is an assurance of quality
as well as efficiency. Looking at the Dyson
brand today, with its assemblage of high-tech
appliances, no one would have thought that
the founder of the company never formally
studied engineering.
In fact, James Dyson himself never
imagined that he would one day become an
engineer or inventor.
“At school I opted for arts, put off by all
the formulae in science. There was nothing
that combined the two like design engineering
does. I only stumbled on engineering by
accident and immediately decided what I
wanted to do – make things that work better.”
These are his exact words proudly
proclaimed on the James Dyson Foundation
website. If necessity is the mother of
invention, then James Dyson is the father of
innovation.
James Dyson has designed everything from vacuum cleaners to
high-speed watercraft.
