The River Chair is weatherproof and designed with a built-in water drainage system that makes it ideal for outdoor use. With furniture design and architectural projects in various parts of the world, Mac Stopa has built a body of work that beautifully incorporates mathematics and geometry in every piece. An award-winning architect and designer, Mac’s passion for modularity, sculptural shapes and digital arts drives him to create modular art that introduces innovation to a space and allows users to interact with the piece. His work spans various disciplines – architecture, interior design, industrial design, graphic design, art and fashion – with multinational corporations a big part of his clientele. Visitors to Warsaw, the capital city of Poland can view some of his architectural projects including the futuristic building housing the Genesis restaurant, and Art Walk, an organicshaped open-air art gallery. Both are part of the European Square located in downtown Warsaw, which also includes the Warsaw Spire office complex for which Mac designed the buildings’ modern lobby interiors. He is also behind the design of the Warsaw Hub, a transportation centre – connected to subway stations, restaurants and offices – that is still under construction. The sculptural shape and organic curved lines on the River Chairs resemble the pattern of waves in the sand, sculptured by wind and water. 29 SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2019 | TM
