Earlier this year, I accidentally found myself caught between a rock and a hard place in signing up for a complete hair treatment program that would set me back for more than RM5,000; and by “accidentally”, I meant “I had enough rewards points to redeem a free two-hour scalp treatment so I did, not knowing one hour of that included sitting through a persistent sale pitch by the hair consultant to get me to sign up for the package to meet her KPI.” Needless to say, it was an unfruitful session for both myself and the consultant; I was just as persistent in saying no, but had to fork out close to RM700 anyway just to get her to shut up and let me leave, which I am still paying by instalment six months after, long after the session’s treatment has lost its effects. That being said, I did take away something from the consultation session: besides the fact that nothing in the world is free, and, perhaps not as serious and urgent as the consultant puts it, the hair does need certain treatment and care that goes beyond washing and conditioning the hair with the right shampoo. (The facility I went to was for the more serious hair and scalp cases that may be unsalvageable). So, it was perfect timing when Number76 launched its curated hair and scalp treatments using OWAY products: treatments that not only help with a healthier regrowth of the hair catered to the type of hair, but more importantly, one that relaxes the sense without a “consultant” breathing down your neck to sign a RM5,000 package. Today, the Bologna-based company is renowned in over 70 countries, the latest being Malaysia itself, when the Tokyobased hair salon Number76 introduced a couple of OWAY’s treatments, a head spa concept that encourages an aromatic ambiance bursting with natural and holistic wellbeing, amidst the traditional hair salon with quick turnovers, as customers sit back and enjoy purifying and restorative hair treatments. OWAY Multi-sensory Head Spa The OWAY Head Spa is a curated head spa program that regenerates the mind and revitalises the scalp and hair in three steps. A Number76 hair specialist attends and begins the two-hour long session with a quick consultation, who will then advise on the treatment most suitable with the hair and scalp concern at hand: an ultra-delicate soothing treatment for red and sensitive scalp; a purifying and regulating treatment for the oily or dry dandruff scaling scalp; a detoxifying and restorative treatment for the oily scalp; or a micro-stimulating treatment for thinning hair. The session will begin with an OWAY Herbs and Clay Peeling Cleanser prelude, dedicated to individuals with intense daily lifestyle, and which could be experienced through a separate 90-minute session on its own. Customers are advised to put away their mobile devices as the specialist starts with a simple Ayurveda neck and shoulder massage to regenerate an experience that frees one from stress and toxins.
