Indian modernism
Der indische Architekt Balkrishna Doshi ist für seine klare Formensprache ebenso bekannt wie für seine visionäre Arbeit im Bereich
des sozialen Wohnbaus in Indien. 2018 bekam Doshi den renommierten Pritzker-Preis zugesprochen, die höchste Auszeichnung, die
in der Architektur vergeben wird. Noch bis Ende August 2020 wird sein umfangreiches Werk im Architektur Zentrum Wien
präsentiert.
Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi is as well known for his clear form language as for his visionary social housing work in India. In
2018, Doshi received the renowned Pritzker Architecture Prize, the most respected architecture award. His extensive body of work
will be displayed at the Architekturzentrum Wien until the end of August 2020.

Streaming Fidelio
Die Oper Fidelio in der Inszenierung von Oscarpreisträger Christoph Walz im Theater an
der Wien, als Höhepunkt des Beethovenjahres vorgesehen, konnte wegen der Coronaeinschränkungen
nie vor Publikum gespielt werden. Alternativ kann die Inszenierung auf der
digitalen, vom ORF betriebenen Klassikplattform „fidelio“ kostenfrei gestreamt werden,
zusammen mit weiteren Theater-an-der-Wien-Produktionen wie Haydns „Il mondo della
luna“ (mit Nikolaus Harnoncourt am Dirigentenpult) oder „Halka“ von Stanislaw
Moniuszko.
The opera Fidelio as staged by Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz at the Theater an der Wien
was initially intended as the great finale to the Beethoven Year and was – as a result of the
coronavirus lockdown measures – never seen by a live audience. Now, however, the
production can be streamed free of charge on the digital ORF-run classical music platform
“Fidelio”, together with several other productions from the Theater an der Wien, such as
Haydn’s “Il mondo della luna” (with Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the conductor’s stand) or
“Halka” by Stanislaw Moniuszko.

Das Grafenegg Festival findet statt
diesen Sommer! Nach dem
Eröffnungsabend, der im ORF
übertragen wird, mit Pianist und
Festivalintendant Rudolf
Buchbinder, dem Tonkünstler-
Orchester und Werken von Mozart,
Chopin und dem Jahresregenten
Beethoven am 19.06.2020 wird
vom 14.08. – 06.09.2020 auf der
Bühne des Wolkenturms und im
ausgedehnten Schlosspark von
Grafenegg vor Publikum musiziert.

Kino auf allen Kanälen | Cinema on every channel
Die Ausstellung „Kino Welt Wien“ rollt im Wiener Metro Kinokulturhaus die 125-jährige
Geschichte der Kinos in Wien auf, von den ersten Schaubuden im Prater bis zum
Multiplexkino (bis 10.01.2021). Parallel dazu wir das Online-Format „Heimkino“ mit
Reisefilmen fortgesetzt. Ab 09.07.2020 darf man sich über Sommerkino im Augarten
und Metro Kinokulturhaus freuen.
The exhibition “Kino Welt Wien” (“Cinema World Vienna”) at the Metro Kinokulturhaus
is highlighting the 125-year-long history of cinema in Vienna, from the first
show booths at the Prater to today’s multiplex cinemas (until 10.01.2021). At the
same time, the online format “Heimkino” continues with new travel films. And from
09.07.2020, we can look forward again to summer cinema in Augarten and at the
Metro Kinokulturhaus.

The Burgtheater in Vienna has set
out to help us overcome the
theatre-deprived time with the
daily living room readings by a
top-class ensemble presented as
part of the “Myhomeismyburgtheater”
programme. The new online
offer is further expanded through
programmes including “Wiener
Stimmung” (“Viennese Moods”),
which are online pieces by Austrian
authors, and the new pan-European
multilingual audio play “Décaméron-19”,
based on Giovanni
Boccaccio’s “The Decameron”,
which will be delivered in 100 parts
and was created in cooperation
with other theatre houses – exciting!
