Students at Divine Mercy Catholic Academy

in Ozone Park are educated in a caring family

atmosphere that is committed to excellence in

education. The school prepares children of all

ethnic and religious backgrounds with Christian

moral values, knowledge, skills and appreciative

attitudes that will empower them in life.

Students actively participate in monthly

Mass and daily prayers. They are made aware

of the needs of others and provide service

through participation in drives for the victims

of natural disasters and charitable programs

including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

and St. Jude Children’s Research and

Hospital.

The academy offers FREE 3 for All and

Pre-K for All (four-year-olds) program as well

as kindergarten through eighth grade in a safe

(CCTV) and structured environment.

Eligible seventh and eighth-grade students

are offered honors math classes to prepare

them for the Algebra I Regents at the end of

eighth grade. Spanish is part of the curriculum

for grades five through eight. Students from

nursery through grade eight use SMART Board

technology.

Bus transportation and the free/reduced

lunch program are available for eligible students.

Title I math, reading and counseling services

are offered for qualified students.

Programs such as student council, choir,

twirling, yearbook and band are available. The

student council plans activities for Halloween,

Thanksgiving, Christmas and Catholic Schools

Week, which are fun for both young and old, and

often of service to others. Parents have the opportunity

to help the school and meet other parents

at events such as car washes, carnivals,

Christmas wreath sales and the annual student

fashion show.

Despite the many challenges

schools have encountered

during this 2019-2020 school

year, Sacred Heart has managed

to successfully integrate

the same quality education,

class schedule and curriculum

provided in school with a

dedicated Google Classroom

Distance Learning program.

Despite novel challenges during the

school year, the school’s Class of 2020 has been

accepted into some of the most prestigious high

schools in New York, including St. Francis Prep

high school, Holy Cross High School, the Mary

Louis Academy and more. Many were also able

to secure scholarships to their high school of

choice.

Financial aid and scholarships are available

for qualifying students. Grants and scholarships

are available for qualified families transferring
