A Message from the Vicar for Catholic Schools
by Rev. Msgr. David Cassato, Vicar for Catholic Schools
It is an honor and privilege to serve as the
Vicar for Catholic Schools during this unprecedented
moment in history. As many of us experience
elements of uncertainty in our parishes,
our professional lives and at home, our schools
have remained grounded in their mission to
educate and form the hearts and minds of our
children. Many are seeking the academic excellence,
values, security, and support that prepare
our students for a lifetime of success. This
spiritual foundation and academic excellence,
offered at our schools, is what motivates me to
fulfill my duties as your newly appointed Vicar
for Catholic schools.
It is a sincere joy to invite our young people
to embrace their Catholic faith and learn of the
values of Jesus which will continue to guide
them at school and beyond. Our educators are
committed to providing thoughtful instruction
which continues to yield superior academic
results. Our extraordinary graduation rates and
test results are only part of why Catholic education
remains at the forefront of academic
excellence. Our schools are also the epicenter
of community life and allow for lifelong friendships
to form.
This pandemic has brought to light the importance
of community. It was astounding
to see students, educators, staff, and parents
work together to maintain a strong network of
support. On day one of the quarantine, we were
prepared and ready for distance learning. The
safety of our children and educators remains
at the forefront of our planning initiatives. Our
schools have been working tirelessly to ensure
we can safely gather and educate our students.
I am grateful to those who have made this possible
as we focus our attention on preparing our
schools to be ready to welcome students to fulltime,
five days a week, classroom instruction!
If your child is currently not enrolled in our
Catholic schools and you seek to invest in their
future, our schools welcome you with open
arms. If your children are enrolled, share the
achievements and thoughtful instruction provided
to you by our committed educators with
friends and family. If your children are grown
and it is now time for your grandchildren to attend
school, please consider sharing the same
foundation you were blessed to receive many
years ago.
As I begin this new role in the Diocesan
Church, I pray for each one of our students,
parents, educators, and staff. May the Holy
Spirit share with you His gifts and remain with
you always. I also ask that you pray for me and
the mission of our Catholic schools which are
the jewels in the crowns of Kings and Queens
counties.

As we embark on another school year at Our
Lady of Trust Catholic Academy, we would first
like to thank our entire OLTCA for making our
time of remote learning a time of success and
community. With Google Classroom already in
place our students were able to make a seamless
transition to remote learning. With that being
said we are more than excited to return to in
person learning!
Our students will remain safe while still gaining
a proper and fulfilling education. Each of
our students has a personal Google Chromebook
given to them in school. Our Academy
also has a Smartboard in every classroom that
provides our students with unlimited educational
connections. They will also continue their
spiritual journey; learning about our Religion
and Jesus Christ is interwoven into all we do
and school masses will be virtual for all of our
students and their families.
At OLTCA we have the ability to have classes
in person five days a week for all students. We
will be following all CDC guidelines including
social distancing of six feet apart, everyone in
the building will wear a face mask, and daily
deep cleanings. Every person who enters the
building will also have their temperature taken
upon arrival. Please review our full reopening
plan on our website to answer all questions
you may have regarding in person learning and
while you are there check out our registration
page for more information and a virtual tour of
our Academy. Online registration is available.
