St. Mel’s promotes a strong Catholic

Educating the Whole Child

Young children learn best through play and

exploration. Our center-based approach allows

children to let their creativity flow, capitalize on

their interests and explore the world around

them. By providing rich, stimulating, developmentally

appropriate activities and learning

opportunities, our students expand their minds,

capitalize on their natural talents, grow their

imagination, and develop academic skills, all

while having fun. Our dedicated staff and family-like

atmosphere will support your child’s academic,

emotional and spiritual growth.

New Music Program

Music makes all people come together, so at

St. Mel’s Early Childhood Center, we are bringing

music to life. We are proud to introduce our

new, state of the art, piano studio, where we will

be making memories with music.

• Studies have shown that playing the piano

results in 35% higher test scores, as well as

increased pattern recognition, hand-eye coordination

and language skills

Sacred Heart CA of Glendale

Motivating Students in Glendale

Glendale, Queens

Based at the east end of

Glendale, Sacred Heart

Catholic Academy boasts

more than 75 years of

academic excellence.

With an education

mission centered on

Catholic values and studentfirst

philosophy, Sacred Heart

motivates students to become

lifelong learners.

Our students receive daily comprehensive

instruction in religion, reading, language

arts, writing, math, science, social studies,

penmanship, technology, Spanish, art, music,

library skills, physical education, health, and

public speaking. Additionally, in 2019 Sacred

Heart was awarded a grant which allowed us to

build a STEM Lab.

Despite the challenges we all faced during

the COVID-19 pandemic, Sacred Heart was able

to quickly and successfully pivot to distance

learning for all grades. Fortunately, during the

2019-2020 school year, all of our students were

equipped with either an iPad or a Chromebook,

which made for an easier transition once online

learning began.

Sacred Heart has proudly

been voted Best of the Boro’s

Best Catholic School for the

last two years in a row, and

we have been nominated

for a third year this summer.

Children’s Success

We acknowledge that each

child is unique and has the right

to succeed. We labor to provide an

environment that promotes the spiritual,

emotional, academic and physical development

of the child.

We challenge each youngster to realize his or

her fullest spiritual and academic potential, while

providing a safe environment in which they can do

so.

In 2021, we will be celebrating our 80th

anniversary. We are proud of all we have

accomplished in those years, and we look

forward to starting a new year with our students

in September.
