TACHS 2020: The Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools
for Grade 8 Students Administered Online, At-Home Test
by Diane Phelan, Associate Superintendent for Evaluation of Programs and Students at the Diocese of Brooklyn
C41
There is no question that COVID-19 has
changed the way students learn and testing
students has been greatly impacted as well. It
is still unclear what fall will look like. The safety
and health of students, teachers and administrators,
is, and will always be, our main concern.
Keeping that as our main priority, we will be administering
the TACHS exam as an online, athome
remote test in fall 2020.
The Test for Admission into Catholic High
Schools (TACHS) will test eighth grade students
who are interested in attending a Catholic
High School beginning in September 2021.
In order to be admitted into the Catholic High
Schools, students must take the TACHS in November
2020.
All three Dioceses: The Diocese of Brooklyn/
Queens, The Archdiocese of New York and the
Diocese of Rockville Centre are all part of the
TACHS 2020 program. This means students
will take the TACHS test given within their Diocese
and will be able to choose any of the
high schools from the three dioceses that has a
TACHS code in the Student Handbook for their
three high school choices.
The TACHS test date within the Diocese of
Brooklyn/Queens is on Saturday, November 7,
2020. If a student has a testing conflict, they
should check with their elementary school principal
or guidance counselor for information or
check the FAQs on the TACHS website, however,
students must register for the November 7th
TACHS test date by the 5 PM, October 23rd, due
date, should they wish a TACHS make-up session
(TBD). If a student does not have a TACHS
ID, they are not eligible for the TACHS make-up
test.
Here are helpful guidelines for TACHS 2020:
• Prior to registration, Review online remote
testing system and device requirements and
understand and be able to consent to the use
of Proctorio; the Artificial Intelligence system
that will monitor and record your student’s
test session.
• Register for the exam via internet or telephone
beginning at 9:00 AM EST on August
24, 2020. Register before the deadline on October
23,2020, at 5:00 PM EST. No late registration
or walk-in students will be allowed
this year.
• When registration is completed, you will
receive an email. Read the email thoroughly
for other important information and “next
steps”.
• The deadline for submitting an extended
testing time accommodation form and
supporting documentation to your Diocese
is October 9, 2020. The form can be
found online at: www.tachsinfo.com
• After you register, (you will require your assigned
TACHS ID) but prior to 5:00 PM EST
on November 5, 2020, enter your three (3)
High School choices on tachsinfo.com. Your
choices may be edited up until November 5
(5:00 PM EST). Failure to complete this information
prior to November 5, will result in
scores being unavailable to your High School
choices.
• Between Nov 1-5, access your test date/
time/test session code on tachisnfo.com.
You will not be able to start your test session
on the day/time of testing without this
information, Students will test on the day assigned
to their aligned diocese. There will be
(3) different start times. Students will be randomly
assigned to start times, and no time
preference can be accepted.
• The Student Handbook will only be available
via a PDF on the website. It will be available
by August 24, 2020. Please read it thoroughly.
Important: Public and private school students
must provide their 8th grade counselor
or teacher with a copy of the Applicant Record
form with Section A completed, ask them to
complete the remaining three sections and
photocopy as needed. A school official should
mail copies of the Applicant Record to each of
the student’s (3) HS choices prior to December
16, 2020. A copy of the Applicant Record can
be found online at: www.tachsinfo.com
Catholic elementary academies and schools
will complete the TACHS Applicant Record online
for registered students.

2 TWINS Digital Printing
and Graphic Design
The foundation of 2TwinsPrinting began with
two twins Gina and Joanne. As business began,
the strength of COVID-19 struck and impacted
lives worldwide. As the severity of the virus
continued to grow, the focus of our business
shifted to supporting small businesses and using
our printing to benefit businesses that began
to financially plummet. In this, the creation of
our “Thank You First Responders and Essential
Workers” lawn sign spread rapidly to unite all
during this heartbreaking time as numerous
businesses and families displayed these signs.
Our lawn sign designs increased our business
throughout COVID, where we chose to use this
blessing to help smaller businesses suffering
as we printed many of these signs during this
time. Furthermore, all signs purchased by small
businesses sold our work and received a donation
for every sign they sold to support their business.
As graduation approached, our business further
gained attention as both catholic and public
schools sought our help to show appreciation for
the graduating class of 2020. With the passion
from school representatives to show a token
of pride for their students and our goal to uplift
those confined to the restrictions of COVID-19,
we worked with all schools and adjusted
prices, supplying every gradating student with
a lawn sign as a proper graduation ceremony
was not plausible. In this, the primary focus of
2TwinsPrinting is to work with all schools and
businesses to provide the best flexible price in
receiving the best quality work for a low cost. We
are a full-service printing company that can work
with all types of printing to support and care for
all, “We treat you like family, and family always
gets good pricing” so give us a call and become a
part of our family.
