Theyserve in a wide spectrum of industries, includingconsulting, financial services, venture capital,technology, manufacturing, retail and consumerproducts. Their success in the corporate arenais an eloquent testimony to their skills, abilitiesand hard work, as well as to the quality and rigorof business education at IBS. The IBS AlumniFederation (IBSAF) aims to help the alumni stayin touch with their alma-mater and other IBS-ians whereverthey are in the world.IBSAF is a non-profit society, established in 1997 toprovide an active institutional framework for professionaldevelopment, interaction and networking for the IBSalumni. This is facilitated through various events and forumsinvolving both the alumni and IBS students. I was able to reach a new level of confidence in my abilityto make a decision with limited information. Prior to businessschool, I had a lot of experience with analyzing situations,weighing the pros and cons of each option, and even makingthe ultimate decision. However, IBS Bangalore took my skills toanother level and taught me how to take all of the data available,make calculated assumptions, weigh the potential outcomesand consequences and then execute - pivot if need be - andlive with (and learn from) the results. These decision-makingskills are very important whenever high stakes situations presentthemselves in the business world, and a misstep could easilyresult in multi-million dollar consequences.As an Alumni, I am grateful to IBSBangalore for imparting the knowledgethat is required for me to survive inthe cut-throat corporate culture. As astudent with work experience, I had a lotof questions about the business worldanswered. The professors were extremelyknowledgeable in their domains, givingus ample practical examples to go withthe theory. The group discussions,business games, presentations and thecase studies gave us a wider perspectiveof the corporate world and its life. Therigorous teaching methods along withthe renowned case study methodologygave us necessary skills required. It didnot end with classroom teaching though.Clubs, Fests and Culturals gave us enoughopportunities to showcase our talentsand skills. Come job placements time,the placement team worked hard toget each and every student placed in acompany. Our placement period wasstructured. We had Soft Skills classesto fine tune our communications skillsalong with our resume. We were givenenough opportunities to excel in groupdiscussions and personal interviews.Regular pre-placement talks were givento set the right expectations and toprepare for the company interviews. Theplacement team strived to get the rightcompanies for our students and I amthankful to IBS Bangalore for giving methe skills and opportunity to excel.
