Electricity demand reached 24.002,8 GWH in<br />

<strong>2008</strong> against 22.608,1 GWH in 2007 recording<br />

a 6.2 % increase.<br />

reached 8.962 million tonnes in 2007, a rise of<br />

starting from the second half of <strong>2008</strong> and<br />

the slowdown of phosphates world demand<br />

occurred in the third quarter of the year following<br />

the worsening of the world financial crisis.<br />

Thus, <strong>des</strong>pite the drop in mining exports volume<br />

in <strong>2008</strong>, the sales have more than doubled,<br />

rising from 34 billion DH in 2007 to more than<br />

77 billion DH in <strong>2008</strong>. The sales of phosphates<br />

and their by-products accounted for 78 % of<br />

this turnover.<br />
