• Processing of new 2D seismic data on
Boujdour (530 km), and 3D seismic data on
Essaouira basin (185 sq Km) ;
• Assessment of Boujdour onshore basin
petroleum potential, highlighting especially
the potential play concepts and leads ;
• 2D and 3D seismic interpretation on stations
and geochemical and geological modeling
aimed at assessing the petroleum potential
of the various areas under study.
Evaluation surveys
By its own means,ONHYM has carried out
three projects started in the previous year, on
Boujdour coastal areas and Meskala-Toukimt
onshore fields, and on the offshore segments
between Safi and Ifni.
Regional reconnaissance on Boujdour coastal
zones
This project, which was launched to determine
the petroleum potential of Boujdour Meso-
Cenozoic basin, has focused on petrographical,
petrophysical and logging analyses,
geochemical and geological modelling that
confirmed the development of source rocks
and reservoirs in Boujdour coastal areas.The
interpretation of 530 km of 2D seismic data
newly acquired on these regions, has led to
the mapping of fault bounded and associated
to amplitude anomalies within the Cretaceous
series. The integration of all available geological
and geophysical data has helped to define
potential play concepts and leads at the level
of Lower and Upper Cretaceous formations.
The drilling of a stratigraphic well, scheduled for
2009, will be located on the best structure to

test objectives of Upper Cretaceous and define
the petroleum systems of the Jurassic and
Lower Cretaceous sequences in this area.
Appreciation and development of Meskala
and Toukimt fields
The acquisition and processing of 185 sq km
of 3D seismics, started at the end of 2007 on
Meskala and Toukimt fields, was completed in
2008. The ongoing interpretation of these data
aims at defining new promising blocks and
assessing the distribution of producing Triassic
and Jurassic reservoirs.
On the other hand, a new sedimentology and
diagenesis study, focused on carbonates from
the Callo-Oxfordian, contributed to gain a better
comprehension of the characteristics of these
reservoirs.
Play concept controls of Safi-Ifni offshore
segment
3D seismic data on deep zones and 2D data
on shallow zones were interpreted. The field
geological studies and additional geochemical
analyses were carried out with the help of 3
consulting experts. These works have permitted
to highlight other play concepts and prospects
