• 2D and 3D seismic interpr<strong>et</strong>ation on stations<br />

and geochemical and geological modeling<br />

aimed at assessing the p<strong>et</strong>roleum potential<br />

of the various areas under study.<br />

Evaluation surveys<br />

By its own means,ONHYM has carried out<br />

three projects started in the previous year, on<br />

Boujdour coastal areas and Meskala-Toukimt<br />

onshore fields, and on the offshore segments<br />

b<strong>et</strong>ween Safi and Ifni.<br />

Regional reconnaissance on Boujdour coastal<br />

zones<br />

This project, which was launched to d<strong>et</strong>ermine<br />

the p<strong>et</strong>roleum potential of Boujdour Meso-<br />

Cenozoic basin, has focused on p<strong>et</strong>rographical,<br />

p<strong>et</strong>rophysical and logging analyses,<br />

geochemical and geological modelling that<br />

confirmed the development of source rocks<br />

and reservoirs in Boujdour coastal areas.The<br />

interpr<strong>et</strong>ation of 530 km of 2D seismic data<br />

newly acquired on these regions, has led to<br />

the mapping of fault bounded and associated<br />

to amplitude anomalies within the Cr<strong>et</strong>aceous<br />

series. The integration of all available geological<br />

and geophysical data has helped to define<br />

potential play concepts and leads at the level<br />

of Lower and Upper Cr<strong>et</strong>aceous formations.<br />

The drilling of a stratigraphic well, scheduled for<br />

2009, will be located on the best structure to<br />

test objectives of Upper Cr<strong>et</strong>aceous and define<br />

the p<strong>et</strong>roleum systems of the Jurassic and<br />

Lower Cr<strong>et</strong>aceous sequences in this area.<br />

Appreciation and development of Meskala<br />

and Toukimt fields<br />

The acquisition and processing of 185 sq km<br />

of 3D seismics, started at the end of 2007 on<br />

Meskala and Toukimt fields, was compl<strong>et</strong>ed in<br />

<strong>2008</strong>. The ongoing interpr<strong>et</strong>ation of these data<br />

aims at defining new promising blocks and<br />

assessing the distribution of producing Triassic<br />

and Jurassic reservoirs.<br />

On the other hand, a new sedimentology and<br />

diagenesis study, focused on carbonates from<br />

the Callo-Oxfordian, contributed to gain a b<strong>et</strong>ter<br />

comprehension of the characteristics of these<br />

reservoirs.<br />

Play concept controls of Safi-Ifni offshore<br />

segment<br />

3D seismic data on deep zones and 2D data<br />

on shallow zones were interpr<strong>et</strong>ed. The field<br />

geological studies and additional geochemical<br />

analyses were carried out with the help of 3<br />

consulting experts. These works have permitted<br />

to highlight other play concepts and prospects<br />
