Finally, a geological survey at scale 1/1000
was conducted in the district with systematic
radiometric measurements. 102 samples were
taken along the profiles for chemical analysis
(multi element : U, Th and TR) and 13 samples
for the petrographic and mineral study.

Rocks and industrial minerals
General exploration for rocks and industrial
minerals has focused on the following :
• The Tertiary basin of Guercif and Taourirt-
Oujda corridor where core drillings were
conducted on Aït Ali target, located at 20 km
NW of Taourirt, in view of delimiting fibrous
clays levels in depth ;
• Ouarzazate Tertiary basin, extending from
Telouet to the West until Tinrhir to the East,
where 316 samples have been taken. The
Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines
results led to the selection of Telouet fibrous
clays indexes for development by core
drillings ;
• The Gharb Tertiary basin between Arbaoua and
Ouazzane where 339 samples were taken in
view of conducting chemical analyses and
identifications by X ray diffraction. The latter
helped to highlight two sectors containing
sepiolite clays (South of Arbaoua and SE of
Tnine Serafah) ;
• Feldspaths and kaolin of Jbel Zerhoun (near
Moulay Idriss Zerhoun) where 6 samples were
collected to undertake microscopic studies
and technological tests ;
• Dolomies in central Morocco (Oued Beht
and Sefrou province) and in calcareous ridge
(between Chefchaoun and Fnideq) where 43
samples have been taken for analysis.
