Energy situation : a new national energy
strategy
In 2008, the national energy scene was marked
by the working out by the Ministry of Energy,
Mines, Water and Environment of a new energy
strategy that will help endow the energy sector
with a clear vision for the medium and long term
to ensure availability of energy in Morocco in the
best conditions in terms of supplies and costs.
The national energy scene was strongly
impacted by the surge in crude oil and coal
prices on the international markets. The oil bill
rose from 52 billion DH in 2007 to 71 billion DH
in 2008.

Relative Gold Price
The energy consumption was about 14.7 Mtoe
deriving basically from petroleum products
(60.9 %) and coal (25.8 %). This consumption
was met up to 97.5 % by imports.
