Sandwiched between the Alps and the
Adriatic, Slovenia is often referred to as
'Europe in miniature'. This small nation
is home to vast mountains, stunning
lakes, historic cities, coastal towns,
deep forest and rich farmland. In this
tour, centred on the capital, you've the
opportunity to explore Ljubljana itself;
Lake Bled and its island church; Piran,
famous for its Venetian architecture;
and the Postojna cave complex. You also
have many chances to sample Slovenia's
wonderful local produce.

Day 1: Fly to Ljubljana
Morning flight from London (regional
connections available) to Ljubljana with easyJet.
Transfer to the Best Western Hotel Slon for
the duration of the tour. (N)
Day 2: Tour of Old Town & Ljubljana Castle
Enjoy a morning tour of the Slovenian capital.
Begin with the masterworks of architect Jože
Plecnik, whose impact upon the city’s aesthetic
character was significant. Next, stroll around
the Central Market with your guide, sampling
tasty seasonal produce. The tour finishes with
a funicular ride to the castle. Your afternoon is
at leisure. (B)
Day 3: Explore Slovenia's famous lakes
Embark on a full-day excursion to Slovenia’s
two most famous lakes. At Bohinj, there is time
for a boat ride and cable car ride to the summit
of Mt. Vogel for lunch. The afternoon is spent
at Lake Bled. (B, L)
Day 4: Day at leisure
Spend a free day enjoying Ljubljana, or explore
further afield, perhaps with an excursion to
the wine region of Goriška Brda or the famous
Lipica Stud Farm, Europe’s oldest. (B)
Day 5: Urban beekeeping tour &
rooftop drinks
Slovenia has produced some of the world’s
most celebrated honey since prehistoric times.
Today the capital is home to 4,500 hives.
Take a tour and learn about the history of
apiculture, before heading to the rooftops to
see some of the hives and enjoy a drink. (B)
Day 6: Postojna Cave, Predjama Castle &
Piran tour
Spend a full day in the west of Slovenia,
including a tour of the magical Postojna Cave
complex. Continue to Piran to explore the
pretty old quarters of this Venetian port town.
Return to Ljubljana early evening for a farewell
dinner at the award-winning JB Restaurant.

Transfer back to Ljubljana airport and fly to
