Day 9: Gangtey<br />

After breakfast, visit Gangtey Goempa<br />

(monastery) before enjoying an easy walking<br />

trail through the Phobjikha valley with its lush<br />

forests and meadows. Visit a local community<br />

school. After lunch explore the Phobjikha<br />

valley, the winter home of the black-necked<br />

cranes. (B, L, D)<br />

Day 10: Bumthang<br />

Proceed to Bumthang, one of the most<br />

spectacular valleys in Bhutan. Stay at the<br />

Village Lodge (or similar) for 2 nights.<br />

Day 11: Bumthang<br />

Visits to Kurje lhakhang, Jambay lhakhang, the<br />

ancient Buddhist wall paintings at Tamshing<br />

lhakhang and Jakar dzong. (B, L, D)<br />

Day 12: Paro<br />

Travel to Paro. Stay 2 nights at the Village<br />

Lodge (or similar). (B, L, D)<br />

Day 13: Paro<br />

Morning trek to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest)<br />

monastery. The round trip takes about 5 hours.<br />

Afternoon visit to Rinpung dzong and Ta dzong,<br />

now the national museum. Later, enjoy a<br />

cooking class in spicy Bhutanese cuisine. (B, L, D)<br />

Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu<br />

Morning flight to Kathmandu. Stay overnight<br />

at the Hotel Himalaya (or similar). (B)<br />

Day 15: Fly to London via Istanbul<br />

Day at leisure. This evening fly from<br />

Kathmandu to London, via Doha, with<br />
