Day 1: Fly to Johannesburg<br />

Fly overnight from London (regional<br />

connections available) to Johannesburg. (N)<br />

Day 2: Johannesburg<br />

After arrival, you are introduced to the city of<br />

Pretoria with a guided tour, followed by lunch<br />

at a local restaurant. Transfer to your hotel for<br />

the rest of the day at leisure. Later, attend your<br />

welcome dinner. Overnight at Radisson Red<br />

Day 3: Johannesburg<br />

The life of South Africa’s most famous politician<br />

takes centre stage today. Led by an expert<br />

guide, discover places that shaped Nelson<br />

Mandela’s life on a tour through Alexandra<br />

township, Liliesleaf Farm and Soweto. The rest<br />

of your day is at leisure. Overnight at Radisson<br />

Red Rosebank (or similar). (B, L)<br />

Day 4: Hazyview<br />

Transfer to the town of Hazyview, a popular<br />

gateway for Kruger National Park. Spend the<br />

rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at<br />

Perry‘s Bridge Hollow (or similar). (B, L, D)<br />

Days 5 & 6 : Kruger National Park<br />

Spend the next two days enjoying a variety of<br />

morning and afternoon safari activities in the<br />

world-famous Kruger National Park. As you<br />

seek out the ‘Big Five’, learn about their natural<br />

habitats as well as the conservation efforts<br />

protecting them. Overnight at Perry‘s Bridge<br />

Hollow (or similar). (B, L, D)<br />

Day 7: Swaziland<br />

Transfer overland to Swaziland, clearing border<br />

formalities en route, and arrive at Ezulwini<br />

Valley (‘Place of Heaven’). Its attractions include<br />

restaurants, hot springs, craft markets, art<br />

galleries, riding stables, a nature reserve, a golf<br />

course and a cultural village. The rest of your<br />

day is at leisure. Overnight at Mantenga Lodge<br />

Day 8: Mkuze, ZuluLand<br />

Continue through Swaziland, stopping enroute<br />

at the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary and<br />

a traditional village. After completing border<br />

formalities, cross into South Africa, where<br />

you enjoy a safari drive in the uMkhuze Game<br />

Reserve, and a South African barbecue (braai)<br />

with Zulu entertainment. Overnight at Ghost<br />

Mountain Inn. (B, L, D)<br />

Day 9: Mkuze, ZuluLand<br />

Meet your guide for an early morning safari<br />

drive in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park, one of South<br />

Africa’s oldest reserves. Enjoy lunch at your<br />

hotel ahead of a special cultural experience,<br />

which includes a visit to a local homestead.<br />

Day 10: KwaZulu-Natal’s historic battlefields<br />

Enjoy a cruise on Lake Jozini before travelling<br />

to KwaZulu-Natal’s famous battlefields, which<br />

you will begin exploring tomorrow. Overnight<br />

at Rorke’s Drift Hotel. (B, L, D)<br />

Day 11: KwaZulu-Natal’s historic battlefields<br />

Spend the day with a specialist battlefield<br />

guide as you visit the staging grounds of two<br />

important Anglo-Zulu battles. Overnight at<br />

Day 12: Port Elizabeth via Durban<br />

Transfer to King Shaka Airport in Durban for<br />

your indirect flight to Port Elizabeth via O. R.<br />
