Notes: Although the copies were made c 1914 the first date in each
case has been recorded as the date of the original letter. These
were sent to Violet after her father's death, and were probably
provided to assist James Marchant in writing ''Letters and
Reminiscences...'' (1916); and have been included in this series on
that assumption. At first listing they were among apparently
unrelated papers in original box 2.
