View of trees and three tall tree trunks, probably California<br />

Redwood (Sequoia gigantea), two trunks in the foreground with a<br />

woman in bonnet and ankle-length dress seated apparently on an<br />

upholstered seat set into the base of the tree on the right, a latticelike<br />

frame enclosing the mid-section of the trunk in the centre of the<br />

picture. Sepia photographic print approximately 21 cm x 31 cm,<br />

mounted on slightly larger card. Annotated on the back in <strong>Alfred</strong><br />

<strong>Russel</strong> <strong>Wallace</strong>'s? hand in pencil '' Not exceeding 5 5/8 | 3 1/2''<br />

with arrows indication dimensions. Annotated in an unknown hand<br />

in pencil ''183 | 16348''. No caption present. Possibly a Taber<br />

photo.<br />
