undated, on a piece of cream card approximately 16.5 cm x 4 cm.<br />

Notes: Found loose in boxes; not recorded earlier but probably<br />

original box 4. Almost certainly not created by the NHM and<br />

therefore possibly either by <strong>Alfred</strong> <strong>Russel</strong> <strong>Wallace</strong> or a member of<br />

his family; to separate books? For an exhibition?<br />

Nine undated and unlabelled ''Stone's Universal'' brand document<br />

wallets with tape ties, in which some of the <strong>Alfred</strong> <strong>Russel</strong> <strong>Wallace</strong><br />

family papers were stored on arrival at the NHM and before listing.<br />

Pencilled notes and temporary reference numbers in square brackets<br />

on the wallets were added by P J Lucas during sorting and listing.<br />

<strong>The</strong> wallets appear old and may have been used by <strong>Alfred</strong> <strong>Russel</strong><br />

<strong>Wallace</strong> himself at some time, but there is no direct evidence that he<br />

did.<br />
