Buff envelope approximately 13 cm X 10 cm labelled in pencil,
possibly in two different hands, ''Geological & Glacial | Photos - |
Ananda C. Swamy. | Aarschlucht.'' The words ''Photos - Ananda C
Swamy. | Aarschlucht.'' are almost certainly in Alfred Russel
Wallace's hand, ''Geological & Glacial'' may be in another hand
(WGW's?) or added at a later date. When listed this envelope
contained ten small undated photographic prints, nine showing
geological features, probably glacial, and one apparently showing a
devastated forest of tree stumps, possibly after a fire or tornado,
though it may be a view of a petrified forest. Two may be of
Aarschlucht (a narrow glacial gorge with a lake at the bottom in Aar,
Switzerland) but are not labelled and do not show a lake. There is no
photograph of or obviously by, Ananda Coomaraswamy. The prints
have been listed separately as WP17/8/1-10

cartoon. Found when listed in a Large envelope labelled in Richard
W's? hand ''Illustrations of Palm trees'' containing printed
illustrations of palm trees and an undated and unnamed watercolour
of azaleas.
