On May 16, the Lower School held their annual Honors<br />
Night. On this night, the Lower School faculty announces<br />
the winner of the colleague who they feel shows<br />
exemplary character and leadership. The winner is<br />
selected by vote, and it has been a tradition in our school<br />
for quite some time now. This year our “Teacher of the<br />
Year” was awarded to Mrs. Dana Cook. If you attended<br />
the event, you would have witnessed her complete shock<br />
as she turned around and saw not only her husband,<br />
Todd, but her parents who drove from Georgia to<br />
surprise her. It was heartwarming to see her reaction!<br />
growth mindset and innovative approach to teaching is<br />
contagious as she seeks to meet the individual needs of<br />
her students year after year.”<br />
It has been a privilege to work with Mrs. Cook for the last<br />
nine years. She is my first-grade right hand, and I am<br />
proud to say that she is not only my colleague, but she is<br />
my friend. Congratulations Dana on a job well done. We<br />
see you and recognize your worth.<br />
Mrs. Cook has served as a teacher at Montverde<br />
Academy for 18 years and is currently one of our firstgrade<br />
teachers also having served as a Pre-K4 teacher<br />
several years ago prior to moving to first grade. Mrs.<br />
Cook is kind-hearted and dedicates her time beyond her<br />
school day to her students. She has a heart for children<br />
and is always seeking knowledge of how to facilitate her<br />
students’ love of learning. Mrs. Cook is always willing to<br />
help her colleagues in any way and share any knowledge<br />
that she has attained. Ms. Shackelford shared, “Mrs.<br />
Cook is a dedicated and valued educator of young<br />
children Virtual Reality at Montverde Academy Lower School. Her<br />
