TIPS

More Options!

You can create separate layers for

dodging and burning using either

method. Name one layer Burn and

the other Dodge. You can then

adjust the layer opacity of the

dodge or burn layer individually to

give you even more control and

use the Layers panel’s Opacity

slider to adjust the effect.

Try This!

Paint over an area multiple times

to increase the effect. By using the

brush at a low opacity to start, you

can just release the mouse button

and click and paint over the same

area again if the darkening or

lightening is not as strong as

needed with the first strokes.

Did You Know?

When you use a layer filled with

50% gray in the Overlay blend

mode, the layer displays a gray

thumbnail in the Layers panel, but

appears as a transparent layer over

the image in the main window.
