Julia Franco
Is from Minas Gerais, Brazil! They were born and raised there and moved to Tucson
about a year ago. They have always loved art in all forms, especially combining different
techniques in one unique piece. For this reason, Julia chose to be a multimedia artist and
study Filmmaking because they think film is a way to combine different art mediums, like
visual art, storytelling, music, and others.
Kathleen Williamson
Was a truant during her Brooklyn K-12 years. She was redeemed by an open admissions policy
at Kingsborough Community College in the 1970s. That experience kick-started her life-long
love of learning, whether it be autodidactic or academic. She moved to Jerome, Arizona in 1974,
& attended Yavapai Community College. Those grades got her into NAU where she earned a
BA in Humanities. Kathleen moved to Tucson in 1986 to study law at UA. She practiced since
1989 & continued studies at UA in Cultural Anthropology, completing a doctorate in 2000. In
2006, Kathleen also earned an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law. Kathleen retired from law
practice in 2021. Since high school, Kathleen has also been composing & performing a diverse
body of folk, jazz & blues songs & produced two TAMMIES- recognized CDs. Kathleen also
enjoys volunteer work & maintains her organic urban homestead. She is thrilled to return to a
community college environment & participate in her first poetry class.
Kira Okuma
(She/Her) is an Associate of Business Administration major at PCC and will pursue a Bachelor's
degree in Accounting at the University of Arizona. While battling chronic illness, art was her
reprieve during her teenage years–it gave her a way to explore the world when she physically
couldn't. She spent nearly every spare moment creating in some way and dabbled in every
medium she could. Eventually, Kira began to favor drawing in charcoal or soft pastel, or painting
with oil paint. If she is not at her easel, she's probably out in the garden or hiking.
Leah Trieu
(She/Her) has always been passionate about the arts and how that can translate into all aspects of life.
She started learning about photography in high school. That's when she discovered she was inspired by
everyday life and capturing the human experience and emotions through photos. Photography is a way
to inspire others through the pictures that you can create. Showing a story and emotion through a photo
can teach someone about a new aspect of life. That, to her, is inspiring enough.
