Her short story collection Masha’allah and Other Stories (Heyday, 2012) won the California Book Award for first fiction; in theory she’s working on a novel, but between teaching and having a toddler, she mostly has time for flash fiction, zines, and emails. She spends way too much time at her computer and prefers to be outside, with her family, and with a pen and paper and a cup of coffee. 235
