once I first saw him
in a dream

clawing my skin as if I could save you
from this darkdeepdown roundabout.
Goodbye old soul
precious little girl
bye bye “Wounds will always heal.”
bye bye “Scary movies are not real.”
welcome into tragedy
where blood dries up
becoming sweet poetry
for once I drank the poison
I thought was wine
and what was supposed to make us women
left us like lost children
crying for more time.
Once what we thought could fix this
split our hands open as it shattered
once the devil himself stood on our throats
did we know how much our power mattered.
