“I’ve always found it difficult to write about my work because if I could say
it, there would be no reason to paint it. With that said, my intention with
“Fission” was to experiment with the relationship between space and form;
background and foreground. To me, this painting is about disassociation
from the object and material world. The figure is ‘dissolving’ into the
background; shedding his material form and becoming the space around
him. Growing into something beyond the sum of his parts.”
