Cargo Service is using both in the new
terminal. Straddle carriers are used on the
quayside and in the storage yard, while
reach stackers are used for handling empty
containers.
Other features

An area with PTI (Pre-Trip Inspection) service
of containers, service of reefer containers
and cleaning of containers with highpressure
water in line built in all over with
easy access, as an alternative to carrying a
machine around.
Also a repair shop for damaged containers
has been established inside the gate,
giving a small advantage as there is no gatefee
to be paid in connection with a repair
job. Inside the gate Cargo Services has
warehouses for stuffing and un-stuffing of
containers as well.
Today Århus holds its position as the
largest container terminal in Denmark.
Århus has had facilities for container traffic
since 1970, when the old public terminal
was opened and fitted the following year
with the first gantry crane called Ship-to-
Shore-Gantry (SSG). The old public terminal
had a capacity of 7,000 TEUs, but was
pressed to store up to 10,000 TEUs before
moving all operations to the new facilities
capable of storing up to 12,000 TEUs.
Three older cranes in the old terminal are
expected to be sold off.
