This year is extra special because it marks the 30th anniversary
of the 100-foot Christmas Tree Lighting. This beloved Delray Beach
tradition, dating back to 1993, has certainly become one of the
most anticipated holiday events in Palm Beach County. Head over
to Old School Square Park at 6 p.m. to see why our tree was named
“Best Tree in the State of Florida” by Travel + Leisure. Visit delraybeachfl.gov
for more information.
WATER TREATMENT PLANT PROJECT UPDATE
Our new water treatment plant will ensure a state-of-the-art
water treatment process, advance the City’s monitoring and control
systems, and improve water pressure. I am pleased to report
that the project planning phases are in motion. Five design-build
teams submitted proposals. The selection committee has shortlisted
the top three ranked firms to participate in interviews for
final selection. Once those interviews are complete, the highestranked
firm will be presented to the City Commission for consideration
and approval to proceed with contract terms/scope negotiation.
If approval is granted, the draft contract is expected to be
placed on a city commission agenda in January 2024.
