Bathroom Hazards<br />

The bathroom is a dangerous place! According<br />

to the Center for Disease Control more<br />

deaths and injuries happen there than anywhere<br />

else in the house.<br />

A common mishap occurs because racks for holding lightweight<br />

towels are mistaken for grab bars designed to support your weight. Grab<br />

bars are shaped like a tube, usually 5” around, and 18” long.<br />

If you do not have them already, buy them now. And never use grab<br />

bars with suction cups.<br />

Clutching a sliding glass door to gain support as you step in and out<br />

of the shower is a cause of fatalities according to Safety Circus Report.<br />

They suggest replacing with a shower curtain.<br />

Changing position in the shower or standing up in the bathtub can<br />

be disastrous. First check where the soap is because it often falls in the<br />

water.<br />

If it is difficult to obtain a firm grip on the edge of the bathtub when<br />

trying to get out, drape a damp towel over the edge of the tub and you’ll<br />

find it easier to hold onto.<br />

Physical Therapist Don Howard says “Wherever water, soap and bare<br />

skin are combined in any situation there’s risk of injury. Any floor can<br />

become slippery when wet. A residue of soap can be present somewhere,<br />

especially on the soles of your feet.”<br />

Life is easy now. If you want dinner, place your<br />

order on your food delivery app and a full<br />

meal arrives in under an hour.<br />

Need something from a store? Amazon will have it on your doorstep<br />

overnight.<br />

But when it comes to vehicle service, many of us are still doing it the<br />

old way — driving to the dealer, dropping off the vehicle, or sitting and<br />

waiting for it to be done so we can get on with our day.<br />

Today there are a few ways we can stay at home and still get our<br />

vehicles serviced. First is pickup and delivery, offered by some luxury<br />

automotive brands.<br />

For example, Lincoln makes it easy when you request service. They<br />

will send a concierge to your home or business to pick up your ride,<br />

drop off a courtesy vehicle for you to use, and then bring your vehicle<br />

back, usually the same day.<br />

No fuss, no muss. Genesis, Mercedes-Benz and others do this as well.<br />

Another option is mobile service. This is where the service department<br />

comes to you! Mobile service has been around only a short while. It<br />

started with third-party companies like Amazon, and not from the<br />

manufacturers.<br />

It became really popular during COVID, when no one wanted to go<br />

out in the world. Today, mobile service requests have doubled since it<br />

was introduced.<br />

Ford, Lincoln, and others will bring the dealership to your home<br />

via a large van or smaller SUV, depending on service needs. They can<br />

perform most maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, tune<br />

ups, software updates and more. Plus, you can use reward points to pay<br />

for it with your Ford and Lincoln accounts.<br />

Mobile Service may cost a bit more than regular service, but for those<br />

who don’t want to drive to the dealership because of distance, are ill, or<br />

just have to stay home, it’s worthwhile.<br />

Keep in mind not every dealer offers this, and dealerships set their<br />

own prices for the service, but you are getting a trained technician who<br />

knows your vehicle and how to fix it.<br />
