What’s My Secret?
By: Tom Harmon / Lean Dog
I
’m often asked the question “What’s your
secret?” And it’s always the same answer. It’s no
secret!!
Good exercise, plus good food, plus good
nutritional supplements equals healthy
aging! Here’s a short, but not complete list
of my daily habits.
If you want to get into it in greater
depth, call me at 702/297-6440 and let’s
book a time.
First, walk outside as much as is
feasible. Up to 60 minutes if you can. Start
easy with 5 minutes out and 5 minutes
back and add a minute each time until you’re up to 60 minutes total.
Strength train two to three times a week. Less is necessary if you’re
using adaptive resistance. Keeping your muscle is important for long,
healthy living.
Remember, it’s your civic duty to be a little “dangerous” and be
capable of protecting yourself and your loved ones.
Eat high quality protein such as grassfed beef, pasture-raised eggs,
and wild caught fish. I also include organic broccoli daily. I start my
day with 3 pitted dates for their iron and to get the train moving.
Drink high quality, nutrient-dense supplements to fill in the gaps in
your diet. Getting ALL your minerals/trace minerals is critical. Stop by
the gym and we’ll stock you up.
Drink a couple cups a day of cayenne pepper/honey/lemon tea for
reducing inflammation. Take a half a
teaspoon of cayenne pepper, a tablespoon
of real honey, and a tablespoon of lemon
juice in 8 ounces of hot water.
I also seek to maintain balance with the
planet through an act called grounding,
which can improve sleep and reduce
anxiety/inflammation. The easiest way is
to walk barefoot in the grass whenever you
can.
Remember, regular exercise is the best
way to prevent depression and the consistency provides amazing mental
health benefits beyond the obvious physical benefits. I’m available for
consultation so just call me and set an appointment.
