printed and action therein contained ratified and confirmed.
6. Trustee Sackett made a brief explanation of the plans for the
;development of the gorges bordering the campus, estimating the cost
of the work, aside from the real estate which it may be advisable to
procure, at about $50,000 which sum the Committee hopes to raise.
He also stated that Trustee R. H. Treman and others forming the
Cascadilla Company, had expressed themselves as willing to convey
to the University the interests of that Company in the Cascadilla
ravine when assured that the parking project would be carried out,
and the thanks of the Board were conveyed fo Mr. Treman and his
associates for their generous offer.
7. The consideration of the matter of acquiring additional lands
along the creeks was referred to the Committee on Buildings and
Grounds for investigation.
8. The budget for 1916-17 as recommended by the Committee on
Finance, with a few minor changes to which attention was called by
Chairman Williams, was approved and the matter of appointments to
fill positions provided for in the budget was referred to the Committee
on General Administration with power.
9. The resignation of Alvin S. Johnson, Professor of Economics to
take effect at the close of the present academic year, was presented
and accepted.
10. Resolved, That the title of C. T. Stagg be changed from that of
Professor of Procedure to Professor of Law, without change of salary,
and that he be continued as Secretary of the College of Law at a
salary of $300 per annum, effective July 1, 19 16.
11. On the nomination of the President and the recommendation of
the Committee on General Administration,
Professor Edwin H.
Woodruff was appointed Dean of the College of Law with a combined
salary of $4,500 per annum for the deanship and the professorship,
effective July 1, 1916.
12. Resolved, That Henry W. Edgerton be appointed Acting Assist
ant Professor of Law for the year 1916-17 with salary at the rate of
$1,750 per annum (vice A. Hayes, absent on sabbatic leave).
13. On the nomination of the President the following were upon
ballot duly had elected ; effective July 1, 1916.
Oliver Leroy McCaskiU to be Professor of Procedure in the College
of Law at a salary of $3,750 per annum.
George G. Bogert (now Assistant Professor) to be Professor of Law
at a salary of $3,000 per annum.
Robert Morris Ogden to be Professor of Education at a salary of
$3,500 per annum.
